What is the purpose of the Dual Master鈥檚 degree program?
This unique three-year program is designed for students who want to become licensed therapists while also developing expertise in sport and performance psychology. You'll be prepared to pursue licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and, with additional coursework, a Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), while also meeting the educational requirements to pursue certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). Throughout the program, you'll learn from experienced faculty, gain hands-on clinical and performance experience, and explore counseling through a Christian worldview.

What are the program鈥檚 entry dates and application deadline?
This program starts its cohorts in Fall only every year. The priority deadline is May 15, the standard deadline is August 1st. 

How long does the admissions process take?
The admission process for applications is quick. Upon receipt of the completed application, the Program Director reviews it and makes a recommendation. Students will usually be notified of their admission decision in 5-10 days.

How long does the program take to complete?
It is designed to be a 3 year program.

Am I required to have work experience to enter the program?
No, experience practicing therapy is not a prerequisite for entry into the program.

What types of careers can I pursue with a degree in MSCP and MSPP?
Our graduates find themselves in a wide variety of careers using these degrees鈥� most of which involve helping and serving other people. Some graduates work for county mental health agencies, while other start private practices. Many work for counseling centers, other non-profit organizations, and in school districts. Graduates who have obtained their CMPC through the SPP portion of the program have had success working with athletes in a private practice setting, higher education, and in collegiate and professional settings. The military is also a big hirer of CMPC holders.

When do classes meet?
On average, classes meet 3 days a week, typically in the late afternoons to evenings. There are some select morning classes, and both Counseling Psychology and Sport & Performance Psychology observation/practicum hours are offered at various times throughout the week, with select weekend options available.
